The Timken anti-counterfeit response team has focused on developing and updating anti-counterfeiting measures since 2005. These activities protect Timken trademark and intellectual property rights while helping ensure customers receive only genuine Timken® bearings.
Timken recently launched its latest packaging update with several new features that make it difficult and costly for counterfeiters to replicate. The company shared specific label details with distributors and local customs officials so they are able to identify genuine Timken packages. Educating these groups is part of a comprehensive approach designed to thwart the sale of counterfeit bearings which sometimes results in customs holding shipments until they can be authenticated.
“We vigorously defend our brand to ensure that it always reflects the quality and durability our customers expect,” says Kim Rudy, manager – packaging, transportation and warehousing at Timken. “Our upgraded label technology and communications plan help us verify how products move through sales channels and ensure that products are passing through authorized distributors.”
In the last two years, Timken has seen a significant reduction in reports of counterfeit bearings. If customers have questions or concerns about the authenticity of their Timken® bearings, please contact Timken at https://www.timken.com/contact-general/
