JTEKT Remains Vigilant In 2020, Despite the Global COVID-19 Pandemic

Although the global COVID-19 pandemic has caused many disruptions in 2020, JTEKT continued its focus on identifying and seizing counterfeit goods throughout the world.

In The Philippines a major raid was conducted where an unauthorized warehouse and related retail location were found to have a large supply of counterfeit bearings. Legal and other actions are pending.

Chilean customs agents in South America working with JTEKT’s Latin America business unit seized and identified counterfeit bearings. The product was destroyed and further legal action is pending.

In Western Asia Egyptian customs seized counterfeit bearings shipped from the United Arab Emirates. Further legal action is pending.

Through interactions with a customer JTEKT has identified an unauthorized distributor using false credentials in China. The unauthorized distributor has been notify to cease and desist and investigations into the possibility of counterfeit products is ongoing.

Finally, JTEKT has implemented WBA Authorization System QR codes on at least 95% of its packaging for bearings originating from Japan and remains committed to supporting the WBA and other global anti-counterfeiting organizations.
