Crackdown on Counterfeit Bearings in Thailand

In March 2024, JTEKT Corporation (Headquarters: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, President and CEO: Yoshihito Kondo, hereinafter referred to as “JTEKT”) and the Thai subsidiary of JTEKT, in the cooperation with the Economic Crime Suppression Division of the Royal Thai Police (ECD), the Department of Intellectual Property Department (DIP), and the World Bearing Association (WBA), successfully cracked down on a large number of counterfeit bearings in Thailand.

The criminal proceedings in this case and the settlement with the counterfeiters were concluded in June 2025. We are now pleased to announce the success of this crackdown.

Based on our Mission:“Joint Technology to bring joy to the planet earth and all working people,” JTEKT has proposed JTEKT Group 2030 Vision: “A solution provider creating the future of mobility society through Monozukuri and Monozukuri equipment” as its target to be achieved by 2030.

To achieve this transformation into a solution provider, JTEKT aims to grow and evolve by enhancing the value of our existing products and exploring new fields.

The initiative of cracking down on counterfeit bearings that can damage the value of existing products has been undertaken in various areas around the world, in cooperation with local authorities and the WBA.

Counterfeit bearings on the market not only affect the business performance and brand of bearing manufacturers and distributors but also pose a major risk to safety of customers who purchase and use them. For this reason, the related companies including JTEKT are putting effort into anti-counterfeiting activities.

Future Prospects

As a member of the WBA, JTEKT and the Thai subsidiary will continue to build a strong cooperative relationship with the Thai authorities and work together to promote anti-counterfeiting activities.

We will also strengthen our connections with authorities in other countries to advance anti-counterfeiting activities. By providing reliable products and improving the value of JTEKT’s bearing brand, we aim to bring smiles to customers and contribute to their development around the world.
