Timken raid uncovers two counterfeit operations in China

CHINA – Timken continues its robust anticounterfeiting efforts, this time working with investigators to confirm counterfeit operations in Hubei Province, China. More than 35,000 pieces of counterfeit Timken packaging were seized. This is one of 37 seizures in 2018 that revealed counterfeiters globally selling fake “Timken” products.

The raid shut down two counterfeiters and sent an important message to other similar enterprises in the region: counterfeiting activities will be uncovered and prosecuted.

“Counterfeiters put the public at risk of loss of life, injury and property damage,” says Lance Yu, president, Timken China. “The stakes are high for our customers, and we take their safety very seriously. Timken gladly works independently and collaboratively with the World Bearing Association to stop the sale of fake bearings and educate customers on the importance of only purchasing from authorized Timken distributors.”

Timken also proactively works with global customs officials to stop the spread of counterfeit products across international borders. Last year, the company completed and renewed customers recordation procedures in 51 countries worldwide.
